Aaron visited
the residents of the retirement home in St. Charles Schiltigheim

Firstly, we would like
to thank Stephanie, our host, at the retirement home in St. Charles for allowing
us to make Aaron the hero of the day.
 |
The afternoon we spent at the nursing home was
emotional and gratifying.
Our Aaron was perfect, attentive, and curious. You could see the
sweetness and joy.
Aaron, curious and joyful, entered the first room and approached the
resident. Contact was established. A pat on the dog’s head and a few
affectionate words:
“How beautiful you are my dog, what’s your name?” or “Come to Granny”.
|
Senior citizens benefit from these dog visits. Being able to watch or
caress the animal seems to improve the morale of the residents.
|
 |
 |
Many people who saw Aaron were reminded of an animal they had known or
loved before. The dog was a confident and reassuring presence. |
|
When Aaron visited a bedridden, normally silent lady, she smiled and
said a few words at the sight of the dog. She recalled memories with her
own pet. She even gave us the origin of the name “Aaron”.
The sight of Aaron gave the woman a desire to communicate and talk about
her past life.

Fun exercises can help stimulate the mobility,
precision, the five senses, memory and expression .The
dog has the potential to give and receive emotionally, it provides
the soothing and magical power to restore the smile. It creates
links between stakeholders, residents and caregivers. Dogs are able
to develop and install a special relationship with the elderly.
|
Once they see their eyes sparkle,
their faces light up. They want to cuddle.
The dog does not judge, on the contrary it is very rewarding for
those who often have a negative image of themselves. The golden
retriever is the ideal dog because he likes to please. That’s why we
use the English formula “will to please”. He likes to bring a
retriever “rapporteur”.
|
 |
 |
The
retriever has a malleable character and learns quickly. It’s beauty and
nonaggressive behavior strengthens it’s role as a social mediator. The
residents’ behavior toward Aaron confirmed the meaning of his name,
“bringer of life”.
|
|
We
would like again to congratulate and thank all staff of the institution
in particular host Stephanie and Martine, voluntary association Creepers
(association that promotes the link between man and animal) for their
outstanding work. We fully support this project. He had courage,
overcome fears. Some people do not like dogs. But we can say that the
majority enjoys.
|
 |
 |
Our greatest satisfaction is to see residents
flourish alongside our faithful companions.

Thank you so much Kristin for translation
